10 Leadership Keys to Learn from John C Maxwell on Becoming a Person of Influence

 

In this blog post, I’ll list the 10 leadership keys to Becoming a Person of Influence (or as John C. Maxwell terms it,”How to Positively Impact the Lives of Others”).  Today I shall speak to integrity, which is the first of ten leadership keys. In future posts, there will be an ongoing discussion.  All ten leadership traits to be covered.

Ten Leadership Traits to Learn to Become a Person of Influence:

• A person of influence has Integrity
• A person of influence nurtures other people
• A person of influence has faith in people
• A person of influence listens to people
• A person of influence understands people
• A person of influence enlarges people
• A person of influence navigates for other people
• A person of influence connects with people
• A person of influence empowers people
• A person of influence reproduces other influencers

 

 

The benefit of integrity is trust.  When you develop trust with others, you will be able to exert influence. People are longing for true leaders; but to be an exceptional business leader, you need to be a person of character.    One they can trust.

John C Maxwell: “Qualities of a Leader”  

1. Model Consistency of Character – Solid trust can then develop
2. Employ Honest Communication – Leadership success will result
3. Value Transparency – Folks will find out your flaws. Far better to  admit  your weaknesses and imperfections. This engenders trust.
4. Exemplify Humility – When people see that you’re driven by jealousy  or the belief you are better than them, they certainly won’t trust
5. Demonstrate Your Support of Others – Put others first, consistently
6. Fulfill Your Promises – Never promise anything you can’t deliver on
7. Embrace an Attitude of Service – We weren’t put on this earth to serve – rather to serve others.  People of integrity are givers.
8. Encourage 2-Way Participation with People – When you live a life of integrity, people will listen and follow you.  The goal of influence is not manipulation; it’s participation!
