Heartfelt Energy – Do You Know What it is?

What is Heartfelt Energy?

Heartfelt Energy

What is one of the greatest challenges you have faced at work? For me, it is speaking up (at the right time) and having my voice heard. It is human nature to judge others, and this will take place on the part of your co-workers if you do not make your voice known. It is better to be heard!

No one can know what your thoughts are, unless you make them known. And when you do this, there will be a gain in heartfelt energy. Dr. Robert Cooper speaks eloquently about heartfelt energy in his book, “High Energy Living”.

What exactly is heartfelt energy? Tap into this, and you’ll discover a better way to live. It is a way to communicate better and more honestly with your co-workers; they will respect you and come to know you better than if you “duck and cover” or put your best foot forward all the time.

I am in nursing care, and I find that if you try to sidestep things, or sweep them under the rug, it does not nurture relationships with co-workers. Thus, I have learned to be more human and share more about myself. This also aids me when it comes to communicating with my co-workers about the people we care for.

Reveal Your Position

Your co-workers cannot automatically know your position unless you reveal your point of view – when you do share, you’ll find there is an increase in energy known as “heartfelt energy”. This gets generated by self exposure and leads to an equal sharing in the relationship.

Now, here are two useful statements to use with your co-workers: “Here is what I experienced and felt…”, or “This is what I need..” These statements are helpful in dialoguing with your co-workers because genuine communication can really only occur with feeling.

The communication is “from the heart” not “of the head”. Thus, when we speak with heartfelt energy, it is a true attempt to bring the listener (co-worker) into our world. You may think of speaking as words projected out, or “aimed” at someone. But you need to alter your perception on this in order to understand true heartfelt energy.

How Can I Use Heartfelt Energy?

In the context of work and your workplace, you may at first blush feel it is inappropriate to bring emotion into the equation. However, it can be one of the best things you can do in order to connect with others. Accept that your co-workers may be experiencing a bad day and may not have the optimum reaction when you do share.

However, continue chipping away in your attempts at heartfelt communication, and over time your relationship with your co-worker should become one of respect. And when we stop pretending “everything is fine”, we can better face the difficulties, confusion, disappointment or depression we may be feeling. This is important – to know what you are feeling and acknowledge it – get it out in the open (within reason) and not “bury it”. Then we are better equipped to face life’s challenges, assess ourselves, and determine what needs to be done. This, in turn, will boost your heartfelt energy.

With inspired communication, there will be fewer misunderstandings.  There will be  better communication through

heartfelt energy
